About The Position

Emplify Health by Gundersen is looking to add a fulltime Histology Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) to our laboratory team. As a Histology Technician/Technologist, you will be responsible for performing various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologists' Assistant and Pathologist. Duties include specimen receipt and accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, paraffin sectioning, H&E staining, and special staining; averaging around 400 blocks a day.

Requirements

• Associate degree with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), or ASCP board-certified HT/HTL
• 1 year of current or previous healthcare, laboratory or research work experience required
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification within 2 years of hire
• Self-starter with strong fine motor skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential for success in this role
