About The Position
The Histology/Necropsy Lab Technician II will serve approximately 50% time in each of the necropsy and histology laboratories (total 100% time) of the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. Training will be provided by the department for the two areas.
Requirements
- Two years of experience; or an associate degree/vocational training; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist the on-duty pathologist in conducting postmortem examinations on deceased animals.
- Keep the necropsy laboratory clean and stocked.
- Embed tissues as necessary.
- Section and stain tissues.
- Perform special stains as requested.
- Maintain operation of tissue processors/other equipment.
