Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Histology Cytology Preparation Technician to join their team! This role will be Full-Time Evening Shift: (Monday-Friday, 2:00pm-10:30pm). Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent.
No experience required.

Responsibilities

Resolves problems or communicates unresolved problems to the staff/management while maintaining coworker confidentiality.
Ensures cytology/histology request forms include all pertinent patient information, attending/ordering physician and correct anatomical site.
Ensures proper stain levels are maintained, covers all staining solutions and stores them at the proper temperature.
Identifies/properly documents unacceptable specimens and properly disposes of specimens when completed.
Obtain pathology specimens while maintaining positive specimen identification, assisting histology technicians and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure the quality preparation of all specimens.
Process specimens in appropriate processors/programs to ensure maximum quality of specimen processing.
Receives, processes and prepares histologic and cytologic specimens by using standard operating procedures to ensure quality test results for cytologist/pathologist diagnosis.
Ensures final preparation products are free of procedural variance artifacts.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
