About The Position

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services is hosting a Summer Hiring Event for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of adolescents ages 7–21 with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Behavioral/Mental Health (BH/MH) diagnoses. This event offers career opportunities supporting children, adolescents, and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral health needs, mental health diagnoses, and emotional challenges in school, residential, or community environments. The event allows for walk-in interviews on the spot. Devereux is a large nonprofit organization with a national network of programs impacting over 10,000 children, adults, and their families annually, focusing on unlocking and nurturing human potential for individuals with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive differences.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for some positions/locations.
  • Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace/testing required.
  • Prior experience working with children in behavioral health preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant Degrees: Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work.
  • Education completed outside of the U.S. may require an education evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Support children, adolescents, and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral health needs, mental health diagnoses, and emotional challenges.
  • Work within school, residential, or community environments.
  • Provide direct support, clinical, educational, mental health tech, supervisory, or support staff services.
  • Engage in activities related to psychiatric residential treatment, acute inpatient psychiatric hospital services, assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training, social skills training, and educational services.
