About The Position

The Hiring and Onboarding Specialist will lead the hiring and onboarding process for all employees. This role involves managing the HRIS system for timely and accurate candidate onboarding, conducting background checks, making hiring decisions, and performing new hire orientations. The specialist will also handle employment-related inquiries, administrative tasks for employee changes, and oversee the drug screen program. Additionally, they will represent the company at events, complete expense reports, attend meetings and training, and perform other assigned duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior human resources experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees the hiring workflow within the HRIS system to ensure candidates are onboarded timely and accurately.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks, motor vehicle records, and employee eligibility verifications, as required.
  • Investigates and resolves possible background check inconsistencies as needed to ensure compliance with company policy and state law.
  • Makes hiring decisions based on background adjudication matrix and company drug screen policies.
  • Conducts new hire orientation for Headquarters employees.
  • Handles routine employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate personnel.
  • Performs administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to employee changes, which may include job and pay changes, updating employee contact information, I-9 verifications, organizational structure changes, adding or removing driving and equipment designations, resignations, terminations, and employment verifications.
  • Oversees the drug screen program which includes maintaining vendor relationships, ordering supplies, performing collections, coaching management on the collection process, and reviewing results.
  • Provides guidance to management on reasonable suspicion situations for hourly employees.
  • Answers common and frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, drug screen programs, and hiring processes.
  • Represents the company at job fairs, business events, and industry events as needed.
  • Completes expense reports in accordance with company purchase card and travel guidelines.
  • Attends team meetings and company training sessions as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
