About The Position

The Health Information Specialist is primarily responsible for the maintenance, auditing, disclosure, and release of the medical record in both paper and electronic format. This includes scanning, capturing, and uploading documents; analyzing the chart for accuracy and completeness; and reconciling and destruction of paper charts and records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Additional training/education in a healthcare discipline OR prior experience in a health information management department with an electronic health record

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of a medical terminology course
