About The Position

Be the guardian of patient records that drive quality care. Gateway Regional Medical Center is looking for an HIM Specialist to join our Health Information Management team. You'll manage and safeguard patient medical records - from scanning and indexing to data entry and analysis - ensuring accuracy, integrity, and strict confidentiality at every step. Requirements

High school diploma required
Technical proficiency, including comfort with Windows environments and Microsoft Office Suite
One to two years of clerical experience, ideally in a Health Information Department or medical office
Excellent customer service skills
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to work effectively with staff and medical staff across the organization

Nice To Haves

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HIM/HIT preferred
RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
Experience with an EHR system preferred

Responsibilities

Collect, organize, and maintain physical and electronic medical records
Accurately enter and manage data within the MEDHOST EHR system
Handle record preparation, scanning, indexing, abstracting, and retrieval
Analyze paper and electronic records for accuracy and completeness
Ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and all relevant regulations
Maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information (PHI)
