About The Position
As a Senior HIM Specialist at CHI Williston Health, you will perform advanced Health Information Management functions that support the integrity, accuracy, and availability of patient health records across the medical record lifecycle. You will independently manage complex workflows, including document imaging, chart analysis, data integrity resolution, and record completion. You will serve as a resource within the HIM department and support providers and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. CHI Williston Health is a Critical Access Hospital where team members may be exposed to the emergency department, acute care (Med/Surg), swing bed, surgery, outpatient treatment, and other areas. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of Health Information Management experience in an acute care or healthcare setting, or progress toward a RHIT, RHIA, or healthcare or business college degree program with relevant related experience.
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and HIM applications.
- Advanced HIM expertise and knowledge of HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently and accurately under pressure.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in a health-related field (RHIT) or completion of a healthcare degree program (RHIA).
- Experience with data integrity, chart analysis, and record completion workflows.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced document imaging functions, including preparation, scanning, indexing, and quality review.
- Analyze medical records for completeness and assign and manage deficiencies in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate and resolve data integrity issues, including duplicate or unlinked medical record numbers, and maintain Master Patient Index accuracy.
- Process and reconcile rejected orders and support provider completion workflows.
- Support and process release of information requests in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
