The HIM Data Integrity Technician performs specialized HIM activities maintaining an accurate electronic health record (EHR) and health information under the direction of the HIM Data Integrity Manager or designated supervisor. This role includes reviewing, processing, and troubleshooting patient proxy portal requests, interface errors, provider portal requests, and patient requests to opt-in/opt-out from health information exchanges. The Health Information Management Technician III, under the direction of the HIM Manager or designated supervisor, processes health information which includes pick-up of discharged patient records from nursing units; prepping/scanning/indexing documents in the EMR; answering the telephone and responding according to department policy; keeping the supervisor informed of issues/concerns that may arise; seeking out additional tasks when assigned work is completed; providing backup coverage for other positions in the HIM department; and meeting quality and/or productivity expectations. Additional duties may include accurately analyzing records for deficiencies; managing all aspects of the clerical transcription process; working various work queues in the EMR; physician suspension; release of information; and Master Patient Index management.
