By joining our Project Delivery and Preservation Branch I as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Woodford County, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road, construction, maintenance and operations.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
- Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees in this classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
- Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.
- Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working on rough terrain and in changing climates
- Experience in equipment operation for road maintenance
- Experience preforming preventative maintenance on vehicles or equipment
- Experience with general labor or trades
Responsibilities
- Haul materials to and from job sites
- Operate dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months
- Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting
- Operate equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters, or woodchippers
- Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
