By joining our Structures Section as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Boyle County, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance and operations.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees in this classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
  • Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

  • Experience working on rough terrain and in changing climates.
  • Experience working with strict deadlines.
  • Experience completing shift or on-call schedules.
  • Experience in snow and ice plowing skills.
  • Experience in equipment operations and bridge repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Operating single axle dump trucks.
  • During summer months you will be using jackhammers and other tools to patch potholes in bridge decks.
  • Forming, pouring, and finishing concrete in various applications.
  • Operating dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader to work in the winter months.
  • Flagging for operations requiring traffic control.
