About The Position
This position is for a Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) with the State of Ohio. The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications. The role involves serving the public by making Ohio roads safer. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as performing snow and ice operations. Training will be provided to obtain CDL licensure if not already licensed.
Requirements
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
- Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
Responsibilities
- Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
- Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
- Perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
- Perform snow & ice operations.
