About The Position

This is a permanent, full-time position in Greene County. The selected candidate will be placed in the classification of Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) based on their minimum qualifications. The role involves serving the public by working to make Ohio roads safer. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing. The position also includes performing snow and ice operations. Requirements

  • For Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • For Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.
  • The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
  • All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments.
  • Selected applicants for this position are required to register as a driver in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
