About The Position

Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1), PN 20051649 The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Highway Maintenance
  • All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.
  • The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
  • All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments.
  • Selected applicants for this position are required to register as a driver in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse at the following link: https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/register

Responsibilities

  • Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
  • Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
  • Perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
  • Perform snow & ice operations.
