Requirements
- One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must be in possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Responsibilities
- Direct crews in the use of heavy equipment and hand tools for general highway maintenance
- Carry out tasks such as patching, drainage work, sweeping, litter pickup, and emergency response
- Review road conditions, investigate complaints, and recommend work priorities
- Select proper traffic control setups and promote a safe environment for crews and the public
- Interview, train, evaluate, and guide employees in daily and long-term tasks
- Make field adjustments to vehicles and equipment with hand tools
