About The Position

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Civil CAD Designer to join our Infrastructure group in our Highways & Bridges team. In this role you will be required to provide engineering deliverables and technical support. The main duties and responsibilities as part of this position include: Layout and detailing design involvement with projects related to earthworks, roads, and storm water management; Perform drafting to accepted company as well as national and provincial standards e.g. symbols, nomenclatures, engineering terms, etc.; Review and check work of others as required; Employ optimum use of procedures, standards and reference information; Produce detailed engineering deliverables for civil related projects; Preparing contract engineering drawings and record drawings; Liaise with external and internal customers to ensure quality and timely outcomes; Inform supervisor/manager of difficult or obscure problems related to work. Requirements

  • Drafting experience with an emphasis on highway/roadway and municipal projects
  • Efficient in the use of CAD design software. Civil 3D modeling and 2D drafting experience is essential
  • Diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering or drafting
  • Thorough understanding of inter-discipline requirements
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to municipal and highway engineering projects required

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrable competency in OpenRoads Designer is considered an asset but not required
