About The Position

The Creative Director’s primary task is managing The Highlander’s Instagram page, which has 600+ followers. The position is responsible for communicating with Highlander staff and guest contributors, ensuring that permissions have been obtained and posted content is accurate, and following the design guidelines set forth in The Highlander handbook. Importantly, the Creative Director must be available on Wednesdays 3:30-5pm for weekly Highlander meetings. This person will be scheduled for no more than 5 hours a week. The maximum hours (including fall and spring semesters) for this position is 60 hours. This is a leadership position that reports to, and works closely with, the Editor-in-Chief. The Creative Director will coordinate with the editor, and student contributors, to ensure that the Instagram page is run with integrity and creativity. The position requires strong design, organizational, and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, an openness to others’ ideas, and a genuine interest in content creation, news reporting, and/or storytelling. The Highlander, Regis University’s student run news publication, is seeking a Creative Director to create content for Instagram (primary duty), coordinate with writers and editors, provide suggestions and insight into other social media platforms to utilize and/or innovative ways to drive engagement on current platforms, and attend Highlander Staff meetings. The Creative Director may also be asked to create flyers/advertising designs and support the design and layout of printed news.
