About The Position

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrician with specialized skills in high-voltage electrical systems. By joining our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable distribution of electrical power, maintaining vital systems, and swiftly addressing emergency repairs. This position ensures safe and continuous electrical operations by working with equipment that carries very high voltage. It supports major electrical systems that power essential functions across the agency.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a High Voltage Electrician Training program; or Six years of journey-level electrical experience, including eighteen months of experience in high voltage electrical work.
• Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License which is not under suspension.
• Possess a valid Master Electrician License from the City of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
• Willing and able to report to 509 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA daily for work.
• Willing and able to work different shifts.
• Able to work in confined spaces.
• At least 18 months industrial/commercial style switchgear experience.
• Able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

• Computer/technologies experience in any of the following: Word, Excel, AIM work order, ESS system, smart phone, email.
• Experience working from ladders, scaffolding, bucket truck, or manlifts while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, install, and maintain electrical machinery, devices, and equipment using specialized instruments and adjusting components based on readings.
• Make critical changes during breakdowns and repair hot electrical systems while following strict safety procedures.
• Clean, troubleshoot, and repair control equipment, meters, and generators using diagrams and tools.
• Monitor switchboards, control electrical generation and the distribution of electrical power, and adjust controls based on operating procedures.
• Drive to worksites and navigate challenging environments, often working at heights on small platforms and in confined spaces.
• Install and fix variable frequency drives and use computers and smart phones for communication and general tasks.
