About The Position

GEO Next Generation High School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced High School World History Teacher to join their team. This is a tuition-free, public charter school that will begin with 9th grade and add a grade each year over the subsequent three years. The school's teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. The faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through a partnership with the local community college, students can take dual credit courses and potentially earn college credit at no cost. The curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion, and a blended learning model. The school is a TAP school. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a deep understanding of world history. As a High School World History Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans, grading assignments, and providing feedback to students. You will also be responsible for maintaining a positive and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of learning.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area
  • Valid State of Louisiana Teaching Certificate/License for grades 6-12
  • Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement
  • Can demonstrate strong classroom management skills

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (or more) of the following: National Board Certification, TAP Experience, o Core Knowledge Experience, Blended Learning Experience, At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment
  • Demonstrated volunteer or community service

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in World Geography based on the Louisiana Student Standards for World Geography
  • Participation in all TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instruction
  • Participate in all relevant Professional Development
  • Maintain high behavioral expectations for all students
  • Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
  • Communicate regularly with parents
