About The Position

State Fair Career and Technology Center (CTC) offers career and technology education opportunities for area high school juniors and seniors. The goal of this position is to provide quality education and training, relevant to current industry standards, and to ensure student success. Because this program is a Missouri Department of Education approved Career Technical Education program, the program’s curriculum is designed to meet a rigorous set of core program competencies that will prepare students with the skills and knowledge to either enter the work force or transition successfully into a post-secondary education program. This position is located on the Sedalia campus. Some classes are technical by nature and require supervision while students perform hands on tasks while other classes are more academic and classroom oriented.

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess or be eligible for a Content Substitute teacher certificate or a Career Technical Substitute teacher certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Exhibit qualities of emotional maturity, genuineness, self-confidence, common sense, judgment, fairness, creativity, discretion, decisiveness, resiliency, adaptability, courage of convictions, tolerance for ambiguity, integrity and trustworthiness, ability to make good, consistent and fair decisions (based on fact and data), ability to work with cross-functional teams and to foster teamwork.
  • Completed applications will include SFCC application, cover letter, resume and if applicable transcripts.
  • Employment will require a criminal background check at College expense.

Nice To Haves

  • Shop experience is helpful but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the program’s classroom instructor.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to high school juniors and seniors.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
  • Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
  • Ensures students are never left unattended in the classroom.
  • Know school procedures and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.
