About The Position

SmartStart Education seeks a High School Spanish Teacher to work with middle school students on Monday through Friday. Each class consists of students who have been identified as those who are struggling with fundamental Spanish skills. Students are from all grade levels, including 9th-12th. The teacher will work with each group several times throughout the week at a middle school in Indianapolis, IN, 46225. Groups will take place within the classroom. Teachers should be flexible and comfortable with classroom settings. Each teacher will be given the responsibility of taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal device (mobile phone). The teaching position begins ASAP and ends on 12/15/2026. The schedule will be 8:00 AM through 3:40 PM. Applicants are encouraged to schedule interviews as soon as possible to allow ample time to complete onboarding steps. Failure to do so may result in a position being unavailable.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory.
  • Possession of an active teaching license or ability to obtain an emergency teaching license asap.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least one year in teaching, either within a school environment or another educational setting.
  • Mastery of high school Spanish concepts and skills, substantiating proficiency in the subject matter.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
  • Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
  • Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
  • Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
  • Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
  • Ability to comfortably navigate a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways throughout the workday.
