About The Position

Join TOTUS LINGUA as a Part-Time High School Spanish Teacher serving students in Spanish II, III, and IV in Elmhurst, IL. We are seeking an experienced and passionate educator who can inspire students to develop strong communication skills and a deeper appreciation for the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures through engaging, proficiency-based instruction. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching high school Spanish.
  • Strong proficiency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to create a dynamic and engaging classroom environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for teaching and fostering a love for languages in young learners.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in teaching methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Spanish, or related field preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience, particularly with High School students, is highly desirable.
  • Current teaching certification or license in the state of Illinois is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons for Spanish II, III, and IV high school students.
  • Foster the development of students' interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication skills.
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and confidence in using Spanish.
  • Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and proficiency levels of learners.
  • Integrate authentic resources, technology, and cultural experiences into daily instruction.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, fellow educators, and the Totus Lingua Academic Team to ensure high-quality instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and implement best practices in world language instruction.
