About The Position

Freire Schools is a network of four charter schools in Philadelphia and Delaware dedicated to preparing students from historically underserved communities for college and beyond. Freire Charter High School, located in Center City, Philadelphia, is recognized for its rigorous college-preparatory program and commitment to peace. This role involves implementing high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum, fostering a safe and affirming Spanish-speaking environment, and collaborating with colleagues. Teachers also have the opportunity to serve as CREW Leaders, co-leading classes focused on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and community building.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Valid state teaching certification, or a clear ability and commitment to obtain certification
Strong content-area knowledge and instructional skill
Positive, solution-oriented mindset with a work ethic and collaborative spirit
Minimum of two years of successful experience working with diverse student populations

Responsibilities

Foster a classroom environment grounded in critical thinking, academic rigor, mutual respect, and high expectations for all students.
Implement high-quality, content-specific curriculum and design instructional materials that promote deep thinking and problem-solving.
Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families regarding student progress and relevant school updates.
Engage fully in professional development and collaborate closely with colleagues to best support student learning and growth.
Opportunity to be CREW Leaders and co-lead a class focusing on SEL and community building twice a week.
