About The Position

Freire Schools is seeking a High School Geometry Teacher for the 26-27 school year. Freire Schools is a network of four charter schools in Philadelphia and Delaware dedicated to preparing students from underserved communities for college and beyond. The network is known for its belief in every student, a strong code of conduct, a sense of family, and joyous, engaged classrooms focused on academic achievement. Freire Schools has been recognized for its significant academic gains. This position is for one of the two high schools in Philadelphia, either Freire Charter High School or TECH Freire Charter School. The role involves implementing high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum to drive rigorous instruction, critical thinking, and high achievement, while being open to feedback and coaching.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Valid state teaching certification, or a clear ability and commitment to obtain certification
Strong content-area knowledge and instructional skill
Positive, solution-oriented mindset with a work ethic and collaborative spirit
Minimum of two years of successful experience working with diverse student populations

Responsibilities

Foster a classroom environment grounded in critical thinking, academic rigor, mutual respect, and high expectations for all students.
Implement high-quality, content-specific curriculum and design instructional materials that promote deep thinking and problem-solving.
Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families regarding student progress and relevant school updates.
Engage fully in professional development and collaborate closely with colleagues to best support student learning and growth.
Teachers hired at Freire Charter High School (20th & Chestnut St.) have the opportunity to be CREW Leaders and will co-lead a class focusing on SEL and community building twice a week.
