About The Position

Freire Schools is seeking a High School Spanish Teacher for the 26-27 school year. Freire Schools is a network of charter schools dedicated to preparing students from underserved communities for college and beyond. The school network is recognized for its academic gains and commitment to creating a safe, joyous, and engaging learning environment. This role is for one of the two high schools in Philadelphia, Freire Charter High School or TECH Freire Charter High School. The teacher will implement high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum, drive rigorous instruction, and foster a safe, affirming environment for students to practice Spanish authentically. The position involves collaborating with colleagues, engaging in professional development, and maintaining communication with families.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Valid state teaching certification, or a clear ability and commitment to obtain certification
• Strong content-area knowledge and instructional skill
• Positive, solution-oriented mindset with a work ethic and collaborative spirit
• Minimum of two years of successful experience working with diverse student populations

Responsibilities

• Foster a classroom environment grounded in critical thinking, academic rigor, mutual respect, and high expectations for all students.
• Implement high-quality, content-specific curriculum and design instructional materials that promote deep thinking and problem-solving.
• Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families regarding student progress and relevant school updates.
• Engage fully in professional development and collaborate closely with colleagues to best support student learning and growth.
• Teachers hired at Freire Charter High School (20th & Chestnut St.) have the opportunity to be CREW Leaders and will co-lead a class focusing on SEL and community building twice a week.
