About The Position

Hamilton County Schools is seeking a student-focused high school social studies teacher. The district serves nearly 75 schools and is committed to excellence for every student and helping students thrive. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess instruction aligned with Tennessee state standards; design engaging lessons with clear objectives and measurable outcomes; and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs. The position also involves collaboration with colleagues and support staff, building respectful relationships with students and families, maintaining a structured classroom, and participating in professional development and reflection. The starting salary is $50,000, with the salary scale based on education and experience. Eligible positions may qualify for additional pay under the Differentiated Compensation Plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Tennessee teaching license in 6-12 Social Studies or current enrollment in an accredited teacher preparation program.
• Strong content and classroom management skills.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to high expectations and academic achievement for all students.
• Openness to feedback, coaching, and continuous growth.
• Passion for supporting students academically and socially.

• Experience in Title I or high-need school settings.
