About The Position

NorthPointe Christian Schools is seeking a High School Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is part-time to full-time and involves integrating Biblical principles into teaching within a Christ-centered environment. The role focuses on academic excellence and equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ, aligning with the school's mission.

Requirements

  • Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational statements.
  • Valid Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, minimum.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily teaching.
  • Teach and support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
  • Minister to students through prayer, encouragement, and wise counsel.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for students per the curriculum goals and policies of NorthPointe Christian Schools.
  • Learn and implement new curriculum when necessary.
  • Create and submit daily lesson plans every week.
  • Plan learning experiences that help each student achieve the stated objectives.
  • Use class time well with activities that engage students' attention and have a clear purpose.
  • Prepare lessons, units, and projects that are suitable to the age level and developmental needs of your students.
  • Adapt teaching methods, strategies, and materials to meet the needs and learning styles of students.
  • Create, assign, and grade assessments and assignments for students.
  • Define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior in the classroom.
  • Create and model an environment of respect and care.
  • Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate encouragement, correction, and counseling.
  • Promote a healthy peer environment among students.
  • Communicate positively and regularly with parents and guardians about their child’s progress, needs, grades, successes, and challenges via phone call, email, or in person.
  • Professionally represents the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
  • Remain professional in attire and behavior.
  • Set up the classroom and regularly clean and maintain it as a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Provide supervision to students in the classroom, and hallways.
  • Follow safety protocols for where students can be and how to secure the building.
  • Be timely in reporting to work and when at work, assure students are also timely when going to and from specials and other school activities.
  • Participate in required meetings, school-wide training, and events as requested by the administration and required by the State.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
  • Work constructively with colleagues and administration by building relationships, contributing ideas, listening to the ideas of others, and collaborating to best meet the needs of students.
  • Collaborate with grade level team in areas such as sharing field trips, lessons, theme ideas, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with ESS and MTSS teams regarding student needs and interventions.
  • Participate in a staff committee.
  • Carry out the procedures and protocols in the employee handbook and respect decisions made by leadership.
  • Maintain open communication with leadership regarding questions, concerns, and needs.
