About The Position

GLOW Academy is seeking a passionate High School Social Studies Teacher dedicated to fostering student leadership, confidence, and academic success within a rigorous college preparatory program. The school emphasizes "whole girl" education, focusing on leadership development, early college and career awareness, health and wellness, and expanded opportunities in STEM and the arts. GLOW Academy is committed to recruiting and retaining high-caliber educators who are collaborative, passionate about their content, and believe in the power of family and community partnerships. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching North Carolina State Standards for High School Social Studies, be comfortable in a diverse learning environment, and possess a commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. This is a full-time, 10-month position starting August 3, 2026, reporting to the Principal.

Requirements

  • NC Teacher Certification in the subject area and relevant grades.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach high school with a passion for and competency in Social Studies.
  • Experience in teaching high school Social Studies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a warm and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement positive behavior practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study.
  • Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities.
  • Possession of a valid TB test issued by the local county board of health or recognized medical authority is required for employment.
