About The Position

Rochester Academy Charter School is currently seeking an High School Secretary. This is a full time, 12 month position. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and organizational skills. Rochester Academy Charter School (RACS) is a public charter school, primarily serving students from the city of Rochester. Over 90% of our students identify as an individual of color. We are a college preparatory school and use data to determine how best to foster student growth. RACS seeks to prepare all graduates for active citizenship. Requirements

  • Experience working in a professional office setting
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, sheets, forms, slides)
  • Able to operate personal computer, laptop computer, peripheral computer equipment, photocopier, fax machine, and other office equipment with a high degree of skill.
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational skills; able to coordinate multiple tasks at one time.
  • Self-starter; able to work independently.
  • Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone calls and emails, receive messages, and respond to inquiries by staff, parents, or patrons of the district.
  • File and sort paperwork.
  • Maintain student attendance and other records.
  • Input data for recordkeeping in multiple software systems.
  • Prepare school reports, letters, and other documents.
  • Produce brochures, handbooks, notebooks, flyers, and meeting agendas.
  • Type and/or draft letters of correspondence.
  • Maintain and order supplies; organize storage areas.
  • Process invoices, track expenses, and produce expense reports.
  • Schedule and organize meetings or events, including coordinate and set up needed supplies; take meeting minutes.
  • Type or prepare reports, compile data, and distribute information to parties both inside and outside of the district.
  • Assist visitors and parents as they come to the building.
  • Assist with new registration of students.
  • Set up transportation requests for students and handle transportation related issues.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail from postal services and couriers.
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Attend meetings and training as directed.
  • Present and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Work additional hours or overtime as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
