About The Position

This role involves developing and implementing lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum and state educational guidelines. The teacher will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to support student growth. The position requires a strong understanding of science subject matter, effective instructional strategies, and classroom management skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and state standards.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning and use results to inform instruction.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Integrate technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and support the school district's mission.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, department meetings, and serve on staff committees.
  • Supervise assigned teacher aide(s), if applicable.
