About The Position

Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) is a tuition-free K–12 public virtual school authorized by the Ohio Council of Community Schools. The High School Principal, working from an office in Mason or Columbus, Ohio, or from a home office with frequent travel, will manage staff who consult with Learning Coaches and students to ensure successful completion of their instructional programs. This role involves collaboration with the administrative team, parents, students, support staff, and certified teachers in a virtual, home-based instructional setting. The principal will focus on policy, academic outcomes, reporting, and supervision, reporting to the Lead Principal.

Requirements

  • Active Administrator Endorsement/License required
  • Strong leadership qualities and a commitment to goal-directed management and accountability
  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience in managing people
  • Ability to travel frequently (as needed)
  • Customer-focused approach
  • Flexible, ability to transition from task-to-task quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast-paced environment
  • Team player, with ability to work independently
  • Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the academic success and outcomes of the school, based on annual school goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of the school curriculum and operation protocols.
  • Ensure staff exhibit and maintain a high level of professionalism, instructional support, and customer service.
  • Assist with ensuring all state reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Exhibit high quality, timely communication with all school staff, students, and families.
  • Work closely with appropriate Legal Counsel as needed.
  • Work closely with Assistant Principals and POBL staff to implement the core operational model.
  • Work with the administrative team to implement program changes, processes, and procedures.
  • Handle student, parent, or teacher issues escalated from other stakeholders.
  • Supervise and evaluate school staff.
  • Provide local support for facilities acquisition and maintenance.
  • Act as the human resources liaison for school staff in the areas of benefits, leave tracking, and local file maintenance.
  • Act as the technology liaison for teachers and administrative staff.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance and support preparation for legislative and financial audits.
  • Monitor all enrollment requirements and communicate requirements to the Enrollment Department.
  • Provide state testing support, including logistics for scheduling and follow-up on participation.
  • Support contracting for supplemental student services.
  • Monitor and track all school-based assets.
  • Support the Marketing Department with student outreach, marketing, and public relations.
  • Stay current on the state’s policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Be available to handle all emergencies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
