About The Position

Blackstone Academy Charter School in Pawtucket, RI is seeking an experienced and talented educator for a PART or FULL-time MLL teaching/coordination position for the 2026-27 academic year. This role requires a Rhode Island secondary MLL or ESOL certification, or eligibility to acquire it. Our public charter high school serves 350 diverse students from Central Falls, Pawtucket, and Providence, RI. Candidates should be seeking a position in a collaborative, innovative educational environment focused on college preparation and community improvement. Familiarity with High Quality Curriculum (HMH Into Math/Lit), Common Core State Standards, the Coalition of Essential Schools philosophy, and social-emotional learning is expected. Requirements

Rhode Island secondary MLL or ESOL certification, or eligibility to acquire it
Experience and talent as an educator
Comfort developing curricula
Ability to integrate High Quality Curriculum (HMH Into Math/Lit)
Ability to work closely with colleagues
Strong understanding of all relevant Common Core State Standards
Familiarity with the Coalition of Essential Schools philosophy and guiding principles

Responsibilities

Providing required services and supports for approximately 80 MLLs (skills range from Newcomers to Monitor status)
Maintaining and updating the RIDE MLL census
Administering ACCESS testing
Supporting teachers of MLLs with strategies and professional development
Assisting Blackstone Academy administrators to ensure compliance with forthcoming (2030-31) Rhode Island MLL regulations
Potentially serving as an advisor, guiding students and parents through course requirements and the portfolio system, helping students stay on track to graduate, and developing social-emotional skills.
