About The Position

Blackstone Academy Charter School in Pawtucket, RI is seeking an experienced and talented educator for a full-time Math teaching/coordination position for the 2026-27 academic year. This role requires Rhode Island secondary certification or eligibility. Blackstone Academy is a public charter high school serving 350 diverse students from Central Falls, Pawtucket, and Providence, RI, with a focus on college preparation and community improvement within a rigorous and supportive environment. The school emphasizes collaboration, innovation, equity, privilege, and social-emotional learning. This is a hybrid position with approximately 50% teaching and 50% Math Department coordination/support. The teacher will instruct one section of Calculus and 1-2 math intervention classes, manage Blackstone’s RIDE Math Plan, support teachers and students, analyze assessment data, and report on plan goals. Additionally, the teacher may serve as an advisor, guiding students and parents through course requirements, portfolio systems, and social-emotional development. Requirements

  • Rhode Island secondary certification, or eligibility to acquire it.
  • Strong understanding of all relevant Common Core State Standards.
  • Familiarity with the Coalition of Essential Schools philosophy and guiding principles.
  • Firm understanding of the importance and power of social-emotional learning.
  • Commitment to understanding and working with a diverse student body.
  • Awareness of how poverty can impact families and students.
  • Readiness to work to eliminate educational inequities that a poverty background might create.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one section of Calculus.
  • Teach 1-2 math intervention classes, depending on need.
  • Manage Blackstone’s RIDE Math Plan.
  • Support teachers and students in relation to the RIDE Math Plan.
  • Collect and analyze assessment data for the RIDE Math Plan.
  • Report on the RIDE Math Plan’s goals and objectives.
  • Potentially serve as an advisor, guiding students and parents through course requirements and portfolio systems.
  • Develop curricula and integrate HMH Into Math.
  • Integrate social-emotional learning into the curriculum.
  • Work closely with colleagues.
