About The Position

Uwharrie Charter Academy (UCA) is a public K–12 charter school in Asheboro, North Carolina, serving over 2,000 students. Our school is built on the foundation of Relationships, Rigor, and Relevance, providing students with engaging, project-based learning experiences in a STEAM-focused environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly effective High School Math Teacher to teach Math 2 and Math 3. The ideal candidate is passionate about making mathematics meaningful through real-world applications, problem-solving, and high levels of student engagement. The High School Math Teacher will create a dynamic learning environment where students develop conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning through problem-based learning, collaborative investigations, and authentic learning experiences. The successful candidate will possess excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to helping all students achieve at high levels.

Requirements

  • North Carolina teaching license in Mathematics (or ability to obtain licensure).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Strong technology integration skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching high school mathematics preferred.
  • Experience implementing project-based or problem-based learning is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Math 2 and Math 3 using the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Design engaging, problem-based lessons that connect mathematics to real-world careers and everyday applications.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies that promote student collaboration, critical thinking, and mathematical discourse.
  • Effectively teach within a block schedule, maximizing instructional time through active learning.
  • Foster a positive classroom culture built on respect, accountability, and high expectations.
  • Implement strong classroom management practices that support student success.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student growth.
  • Integrate technology and digital learning tools to enhance instruction and increase student engagement.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress.
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives.
