About The Position

Seeking a fulltime 9-12 th -grade math instructor for immediate employment at Liberty Common High School in Fort Collins, Colorado – a charter-public school of the Poudre School District dedicated to college-preparatory instruction. The school currently enrolls over 340 high-school students. LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching 1) a contextual body of organized knowledge, 2) the skills of learning, and 3) the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for her/his academic effort. The math teacher has responsibility for program planning, curriculum development, and delivery of the math instructional program for high-school students in cooperation with the school’s existing Math Department. These classes include Algebra 1 through College Trigonometry. This position is primarily located at the high school, but may involve some teaching at the LCS junior high campus as needed. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skill- and knowledge-based curriculum, and driven toward high student achievement. A teaching license is not required.

Requirements

  • Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
  • Experience in education, preferably in a charter school.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • BA/BS in math, engineering, or related math-dependent discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Demonstrated effective classroom teaching ability.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multiple teams.
  • MS/MA in math, engineering, or related math-dependent discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience or background in teaching higher-level mathematics (trigonometry, analytic geometry, calculus, and college-level math).
