About The Position

This entry-level position mentors and teaches a high school student the basics of diesel mechanics and provides experience in a shop environment. The intern performs light maintenance and repairs, including lube, oil, and filter changes; tire balancing and rotation; and cooling-system flushing. The role also assists Service Technicians with heavy-duty truck repairs and supports dealership service operations.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in the senior year of high school.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work while maintaining a mandatory school schedule.
Ability to obtain a work permit from the school board.

Responsibilities

Perform work listed on repair orders efficiently and accurately in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
Assist other Service Technicians with heavy-duty truck repairs.
Attend training sessions and company trainings to gain knowledge and experience.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area and clean vehicles and the surrounding shop area.
Record job summaries for assigned repairs and document all work performed on repair orders.
Complete required educational trainings within the designated timeframe.
Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
Save and tag parts from jobs when work is under warranty or when requested by the customer.
Report machinery defects or malfunctions to a supervisor.
Maintain and be accountable for dealership-owned tools and manuals.
Operate tools and equipment safely.
Perform other duties as assigned.
