About The Position

The Stonehaven School is seeking a part-time High School Girls Tennis Head Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary goal of our coaches is to instill Christian virtue in athletes, shaping them into individuals of character rather than just skilled players. Athletics at Stonehaven is viewed as a crucial opportunity for developing discipline, perseverance, and responsibility, fostering a desire for excellent performance alongside good sportsmanship, humility, and grace. Coaches are expected to model Christ-like behavior in all situations and conduct all activities in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a faithful daily walk with Christ.
  • Must be active in a local Protestant Christian church.
  • Must work collaboratively and respectfully with all coaches.
  • Must accept The Stonehaven School’s Statement of Faith and Academic Philosophy without reservation.
  • Must be committed to upholding both the Statement of Faith and Academic Philosophy.
  • Must serve Christ under the authority of a local Protestant Christian church whose beliefs and teachings are in fundamental agreement with The Stonehaven School’s Statement of Faith.
  • Must comply with all applicable policies of The Stonehaven School and with all administrative directives.
  • Must possess a love for God, a love for the students, a love for the sport, a love for the parents, and a love for the school.

Nice To Haves

  • Coaching experience with a demonstrated passion for training students at the high school level or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of tennis fundamentals, systems, and player development.

Responsibilities

  • Host a student interest meeting during the Winter to explain season details.
  • Help organize student participation in the summer program, practices, and games.
  • Work with the team parent-volunteer to ensure timely communication with parents.
  • Maintain a disciplined and orderly team environment.
  • Report schedules and results of games to the athletic director.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of athletes.
  • Nurture, love, and guide students with Biblical principles of competition.
  • Dress professionally and appropriately as outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Enforce Stonehaven’s discipline policy as outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Communicate with parents and the athletic director regarding athlete’s progress and behavior.
  • Promote academic integrity and success.
