High School Geometry Tutor
About The Position
SmartStart Education seeks a small-group Geometry tutor to support high school students in Dayton, Ohio, who are struggling with fundamental Geometry skills. Groups consist of 1–4 students from grades 9–12, and the tutor will work with each group several times during the week. Services may take place in a classroom (push-in) or outside the classroom (pull-out), so tutors must be comfortable with both settings. The tutor is responsible for taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal mobile phone. The position runs from October 27, 2026, through March 16, 2027. The schedule is Tuesday through Thursday, 9:15 AM to 4:15 PM. The hourly salary range is $32.09–$35.66. Applicants are encouraged to schedule interviews promptly to allow time for onboarding.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in any field; anticipated graduation dates are not accepted.
- At least one year of teaching or tutoring experience in a school or another educational setting.
- Mastery of high school Geometry concepts and skills.
- Understanding of challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, including racial, socioeconomic, and cultural disparities.
- Genuine passion and commitment to fostering student success.
- Punctuality and adherence to established schedules.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
- Ability to commute to the designated location.
- Ability to navigate a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways throughout the workday.
