The French teacher at SkyView will be responsible for ensuring that students in grades 9-12 have access to a high quality and rigorous French program as one of their world language options.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Knowledge and experience that supports teaching students French.

Nice To Haves

  • While a degree in Education and/or French is preferable, we welcome applicants who possess the knowledge and skills to facilitate a rigorous curriculum and provide needed support in these courses.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities.
  • Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • Serve as an integral part of their school and the school community, performing certain duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and supporting certain extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations, participating in department and school meetings, and parent meetings.
  • Utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student's performance and development.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Utilize new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever changing and strategic environment.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Engage students in meaningful Socratic dialog on a consistent basis.
  • Differentiate instruction to address various learning styles.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management and discipline.
  • Communicate proactively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Develop curriculum with assistance from the High School Principal and/or High School faculty.
  • Build appropriate professional relationships with students.
  • Collaborate with other SVA staff in all aspects of the school.
