Pinnacle Charter Schools, operated by MGRM Pinnacle, is a Cognia-accredited network of charter schools serving students across Arizona since 1995. We offer a flexible, year-round instructional model that blends online learning with in-person academic support at our school sites. Our approach is built around Personalized Learning Programs (PLPs) that allow students to move at their own pace—whether they are catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead through honors-level coursework and accelerated pathways. We serve a diverse student population with varying academic goals and life circumstances. Our students have diverse academic goals—some benefit from additional support and flexibility, while others are motivated to accelerate, take on more rigorous coursework, or pursue a non-traditional path to graduation. At Pinnacle, we prioritize individualized learning, strong relationships, and meaningful academic progress. We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable High School English Teacher (On-Site Classroom Instructor) to join our Tempe Campus. In this role, you will work directly with students in a small-group, personalized learning environment, supporting the development of reading, writing, communication, critical thinking, and language arts skills. Your classroom will include students working at different levels—from those requiring foundational literacy support to those pursuing advanced, honors-level English coursework. This position is ideal for educators who enjoy teaching literature, composition, reading comprehension, communication, and critical thinking skills; supporting both intervention and enrichment in English Language Arts; working closely with students through 1-on-1 and small-group instruction; and helping students strengthen academic writing, reading, and analytical skills while progressing toward graduation.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in education, English, Language Arts, or a related field (Masters or higher preferred).
Arizona Teaching Certificate in English, Language Arts, Secondary Education, or a related field, or the ability to obtain one.
Highly qualified candidates with advanced degrees (Masters/PhD) or significant subject-matter expertise are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated ability to teach and support students in reading, writing, literature, grammar, communication, and critical thinking.
Strong instructional skills with an emphasis on literacy development, differentiated instruction, individualized learning, and student-centered teaching practices.
Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners across a range of academic levels, including students needing additional support as well as those pursuing accelerated or honors-level work.
Ability to build a structured yet flexible classroom environment that promotes both accountability and independence.
Comfort working in a non-traditional, blended learning model, including the use of learning management systems and digital tools.
Strong relationship-building skills with students, with the ability to motivate, engage, and hold students to high expectations.
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
A growth-oriented and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to contribute to both academic instruction and broader school initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide daily on-site instruction and academic support in English Language Arts through 1-on-1 and small-group learning sessions.
Support students in developing reading comprehension, analytical writing, grammar, research, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Guide students through English coursework, including literature analysis, composition, and honors-level English studies.
Provide targeted intervention for students who are below grade level while offering enrichment opportunities for advanced learners.
Review student writing and provide timely, constructive feedback to improve clarity, organization, grammar, and critical thinking.
Monitor academic progress and implement interventions or enrichment strategies to promote measurable growth.
Build strong relationships with students to foster motivation, accountability, confidence, and academic independence.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, academic progress, and interventions.
Support a small roster of online students with instruction, feedback, and progress monitoring.
Communicate regularly with students and families to support engagement and success.
Participate in professional development and staff collaboration.
Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations and student success.
