About The Position

This position involves planning, preparing, and delivering engaging English Language Arts instruction for secondary students, aligned with state standards and district curriculum. The teacher will differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, utilize various instructional strategies and technology, and assess student progress using data to inform teaching. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom, collaborating with colleagues, participating in student support plans, and upholding district policies.

Requirements

  • Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with BA or BQ 9-12 Endorsement

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum
  • Teach a range of secondary ELA courses
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students, including English learners and students with disabilities
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology to support student learning
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction
  • Provide timely feedback to students and communicate academic progress to parents/guardians
  • Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance
  • Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Implement classroom management strategies consistent with school and district expectations
  • Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities (PLCs) to analyze data and improve instructional practices
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs, 504 Plans, and other student support plans
  • Provide academic intervention and enrichment as needed, including tutoring or extra help sessions
  • Integrate real-world applications and problem-solving into ELA instruction
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with administrators, counselors, and support staff
  • Uphold district policies, school rules, and professional ethics
