About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time high school English aide who is passionate about academic excellence and helping students grow spiritually, socially, and intellectually. This position is considered a faith-forming role where aides are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in addition to grading and assisting teachers.

Requirements

Strong reading and writing skills.
Ability to evaluate student work using rubrics.
Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
Detail-oriented.
Comfortable with technology.
Effective written communicator.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and consistency in grading.
Submission of one analytical writing sample and one creative writing sample.
Ability to work on campus.
Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Professional appearance and demeanor.

Interest or experience in supporting AHS extracurricular athletics programs.

Responsibilities

Grading and providing feedback in AP English and Creative Writing courses.
Evaluating student work using rubrics.
Providing clear, constructive feedback that helps students grow.
Integrating faith-based principles and moral reasoning where appropriate.
Serving as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students.
Supporting and upholding the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues.
Participating in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities.
Responding thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.
Acting as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement.
Reflecting and supporting the school's religious mission and educational purpose through personal conduct, public statements, and online presence.
Supporting AHS extracurricular athletics programs (preferred).
