About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time High School English Aide who is passionate about academic excellence and helping students grow spiritually, socially, and intellectually. This position is considered a faith-forming role where aides are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The aide will support grading and feedback in AP English and Creative Writing courses.

Requirements

  • Strong reading and writing skills
  • Ability to evaluate student work using rubrics
  • Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with technology
  • Effective written communicator
  • Maintain confidentiality and consistency in grading
  • Submit one analytical writing sample
  • Submit one creative writing sample
  • Must be able to work on campus
  • Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement
  • Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose

Responsibilities

  • Grading and assisting teachers
  • Actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Evaluate student work using rubrics
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback that helps students grow
  • Maintain confidentiality and consistency in grading
  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning where appropriate
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission
  • Be professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement
  • Ensure personal conduct, public statements, and online presence reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose
