About The Position

Valor Collegiate Academies is seeking a High School Economics & AP Economics Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, in-person lead teaching position at a top-performing public charter school network in Nashville, Tennessee. Valor serves 1,900 students in grades 5-12 with a mission to empower its diverse community through rigorous academics and whole-child education in an intentionally diverse school environment. The school network is A-Rated by the Tennessee Department of Education, ranks in the top 1% for student growth, and is a national leader in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Requirements

  • Must have an active Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement that aligns with the Economics course in the TDOE Course Catalog.
  • Must have already completed the AP Economics Summer Institute hosted by College Board or be willing/available to complete this required summer training in June or July prior to the school year.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead 4 classes daily in one content area, with 2 daily planning periods.
  • Plan and lead 1 Intervention Block or Study Hall daily.
  • Plan and prepare daily lessons and materials aligned with Valor’s curriculum and AP College Board standards.
  • Utilize school-wide tracking and tech systems to collect, enter, and analyze students’ academic and behavioral data daily.
  • Maintain academic and behavioral gradebooks with accurate information.
  • Actively engage in and prepare for weekly 1:1 coaching and weekly intellectual preparation (IP) meetings.
  • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies, and culture systems.
  • Own an arrival, recess or lunch, transition, or dismissal duty daily.
  • Participate in school events outside of normal school hours (e.g., parent-teacher conferences, field trips, IEP meetings), with an estimated annual commitment of 25 hours.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including 3 weeks of faculty training in July 2026 and weekly PL sessions.
  • Participate in faculty Circle on Wednesdays after school and complete/present 2 pieces of faculty Badge Work per school year.
  • Serve as a Mentor, leading daily lessons and activities for scholars’ social-emotional development.
  • Plan, prepare, and lead student Circles weekly.
  • Provide coaching to students regarding Badge Work and their Circle presentations.
  • Track and input student behavior feedback through Kickboard to share with families, school leaders, and the culture team.
