About The Position

The High School CTE Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator who delivers course content in an online environment. The teacher provides instruction, support, and guidance; manages the learning process; and addresses students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor progress through Stride K12’s learning management system and work closely with students and parents or learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals. This is a virtual position with Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA). Teachers typically work from home and must maintain a professional, distraction-free home office. The role requires a typical schedule of 9–5 or 8–4, as defined by the school, and the ability to work independently for typically 40 or more hours per week. Occasional travel is required for professional development, student testing, and other school events—on average once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time. The position strongly prefers candidates residing in Virginia, though candidates in Washington, DC, or Maryland may be considered, and candidates must be able to attend required in-person events. The role supports VAVA’s mission to provide students with an individualized, engaging education through family and community partnerships, a rigorous curriculum, and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model.
