About The Position

Belmont Charter Network is seeking a High School Civics & Economics teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Belmont Charter Network is a family of 5 community schools dedicated to promoting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of each child. Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-2 years of classroom experience, preferably in urban education
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate
  • Demonstrated preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals.
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and participation.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Execute school-wide duties in accordance with school rules and procedures such as lunch, recess, hallway, or other duties in the school as assigned.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
