About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time collaborative pianist to assist with high school choir classes. This position would also include responsibilities assisting with instruction and managing class logistics. This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to academic instruction, teachers are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience, preferably in a formal school setting
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Enduring love of youth
  • Genuine passion for teaching and learning
  • Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Teaching high school choir classes (Men's Choir or Women's Choir)
  • Working with the high school choral department team to prepare and present high-quality choral concerts
  • Integrating faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate
  • Serving as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
  • Supporting and upholding the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Participating in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities
  • Responding thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission
  • Being professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement
  • Ensuring personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose
  • Preparing and delivering daily lesson plans
  • Establishing and communicating clear learning objectives
  • Using a variety of pedagogical methods
  • Creating and posting assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics
  • Maintaining purposeful and effective classroom routines
  • Communicating with parents and colleagues in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, and positive
  • Monitoring and reporting student progress clearly and consistently
