About The Position

This position is for a High School Choir Classroom Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will be responsible for implementing the educational program for students, diagnosing their vocal abilities, planning and directing learning activities, and motivating students to learn. The role involves creating a positive learning atmosphere, evaluating student progress, assisting with student counseling, and implementing school and district curricular goals. The teacher will also prepare lesson plans, assist in curriculum development, and assess instructional material needs. Responsibilities extend to informing students of regulations, conferring with parents, supervising students in various school areas, enforcing school regulations, participating in inservice programs, maintaining records, checking attendance, supervising choir performances and competitions, and taking responsibility for issued materials. The teacher must adhere to Board of Education policies and attend faculty meetings and professional activities related to their assignment.

Requirements

  • Valid Arkansas teaching certificate
  • Vocal Music PK-8, 7-12
  • Robinson High School

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose the voicing and vocal achievement level of each student.
  • Plan, prescribe and direct the learning activities of students.
  • Motivate students to learn.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning in both appearance of instructional station and activities therein.
  • Evaluate progress of students and inform students thereof on a continuous basis.
  • Assist with the counseling of students for their academic, personal, social and career improvement.
  • Implement school or district curricular goals.
  • Ensure that substitutes will have all information necessary for effective instruction.
  • Prepare and follow effective lesson plans.
  • Assist in the development of school and district curriculums.
  • Assist in assessing school and district needs for instructional materials and equipment.
  • Prepare for principal, lists of material and equipment needs for instructional assignment.
  • Inform students of school or district regulations that are pertinent to them.
  • Confer with parents on students progress and attitudes.
  • Supervise students in corridors, in rest rooms, in lunchrooms, on school grounds, etc. in accordance with Board policy. Such supervision that is on an assigned basis should be equitably distributed.
  • Assist in the enforcement of school regulations at all times.
  • Participate in all prescribed inservice programs.
  • Maintain, and make reports on, necessary records for pupil accounting, pupil progress, material and equipment inventories, collection of money, etc.
  • Check attendance and report absences and tardies.
  • Supervise choir students in required performances and competitions.
  • Take responsibility for issued materials and equipment.
  • Know Board of Education policies, Desegregation Plan, district and school guidelines and regulations and adhere to same.
  • Supervise early and late bus students on an equitable assigned basis.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Participate in professional activities that are related to subject area assignment.
  • Keep informed of latest curriculum developments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
