The Environmental Charter School is hiring a High School Chemistry Teacher. The role calls for strong teaching abilities, an understanding of secondary-education pedagogy and instructional practices, and an interest in environmental studies. The teacher works collaboratively with students, grade-level and vertical teams, instructional coaches, and the principal to support student achievement. Candidates should be energetic, progressive-minded, and willing to collaborate. The school describes its work as student-centered, reflective, and continually improving. Its educational approach challenges faculty to take risks and emphasizes collaboration and systems thinking. For best consideration, candidates should have a degree or experience in education, a strong work ethic, and a “whatever it takes” attitude. The position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and Pennsylvania certification in Chemistry for grades 7–12. Secondary teaching experience is preferred. Advanced Placement certification, or willingness to obtain it, is highly desirable, as is familiarity with charter schools. The stated starting salary range is $45,610 to $58,120, contingent upon prior experience. ECS offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; short- and long-term disability insurance; paid time off; and participation in a 403(b) retirement plan. Required clearances and training must be completed as described in the posting.
