About The Position

Macon R-1 School District is seeking a High School Building Secretary to provide administrative support to the building principal and assistant principal. This role involves greeting visitors, answering phones, assisting students, families, staff, and the public, and managing various administrative tasks. The secretary will also be responsible for preparing correspondence, maintaining files, creating and managing shared Google documents, and handling daily attendance and lunch reporting. Additionally, the position involves preparing weekly bulletins, managing student parking permits and locker assignments, coordinating schedules with outside vendors, assisting administration with student-related matters, and supporting school activities and events. The terms of employment are hourly rate for 215 days, with salary and work year established by the Superintendent. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent computer skills

  • Ability to work with students, faculty, and the general public in a diplomatic, friendly manner

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the building principal and assistant principal.
  • Greet visitors, answer phones, and assist students, families, staff, and the public.
  • Prepare correspondence, maintain files, and create and manage shared Google documents.
  • Maintain daily student and visitor sign in/out sheets.
  • Verify student absences daily.
  • Manage daily lunch reporting.
  • Prepare attendance reports and attendance communication with families.
  • Prepare weekly bulletin and send to all staff, parents and students via email, facebook post and website.
  • Manage student parking permits and tags, locker assignments, activity passes and commonly used school forms.
  • Coordinate scheduling with outside vendors for school pictures, meetings, and other services.
  • Assist administration with detention, tutoring, teacher coverage, and substitute coordination.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of school activities and events throughout the year.
  • Assist with student records and other registrar duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
